STI Researcher Jeroen Neckebrouck Receives Award from Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal

His work bridges academic rigor with real-world impact, tackling key challenges in employee well-being, remote work, and sustainable governance in family firms.

Professor Jeroen Neckebrouck, researcher at the Social Trends Institute (STI) and Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship at IESE Business School, has received the Outstanding Reviewer Award from the Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal (SEJ), one of the most prestigious academic publications in the fields of strategy and entrepreneurship.

The award recognizes members of the journal’s editorial team who excel in the quality, rigor, and dedication of their reviews, contributing significantly to the advancement of knowledge in strategic management.

Professor Neckebrouck is also actively engaged in STI-funded research projects that address pressing social and organizational challenges. In 2020-21 he led a study on “The short- and long-term impact of Covid-19 on the psychological well-being of employees,” alongside IESE professors Sebastian Reiche and Anneloes Raes. The project explores how the abrupt and widespread adoption of remote work has affected employees’ state of mind and seeks to identify best practices to mitigate burnout and enhance job satisfaction.

In addition, Jeroen Neckebrouck participates in an STI-funded project titled “Family-firm Governance vis-à-vis Employee and Environment Orientation.” The study seeks to deepen understanding of family firms’ care for nonfamily stakeholders, particularly their orientation toward employees and the environment. Its findings will provide valuable insights for managers on crisis management and for policymakers aiming to identify the characteristics that drive stronger outcomes in family-owned businesses.

The Social Trends Institute (STI) is a non-profit research center that provides institutional and financial support to academics across disciplines who seek to understand emerging social trends and their impact on human communities.
