Richard Playford completed a PhD in philosophy at the University of Reading in 2017, where he was employed as a Sessional Lecturer. His thesis was on Aristotelian natural law ethics. He also has a master’s in philosophy from the University of Birmingham and a bachelor’s in philosophy with ancient history from the University of Exeter. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Since completing his PhD, he has worked for the WEA and St Mary’s University, Twickenham. His interests lie at the intersection of ethics and metaphysics with a particular emphasis on the thought of Aristotle and Aquinas in a bioethical context. He is currently working on a project funded by the INSBS to set up and run the RACS Network. He also has his own YouTube channel: The Philosopher’s Cave.
