Sandra Barrueco is Professor of Psychology and Associate Dean of Graduate Programs and Research at The Catholic University of America. She is Director of the PhD Program in Clinical Psychology and member of the Children, Families, and Cultures Elective Focus. She also leads the undergraduate Latin American and Latino Studies Minor and Certificate Degrees, and founded the University’s Institute for Latin American and Iberian Studies (ILAIS). Dr. Barrueco’s expertise centers on immigrant and migrant children and families, with particular focus on screening, assessment, prevention, and early intervention.
Professor Barrueco’s studies across the United States have been used to improve national policies and standards, and her laboratory has been awarded external funding from federal agencies, foundations, and other entities. Dr. Barrueco frequently serves as a national speaker and her appointments include the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine Forum for Children’s Well-being.
