Originally from Chicago, Dr Agata Fijalkowski is Reader at Leeds Law School. She joined Leeds Beckett in July 2019. Agata has written extensively about judiciaries in post-Communist Europe. Her research is distinctly interdisciplinary. Previously she was a Senior Lecturer at Lancaster Law School and Neil MacCormick Visiting Fellow at the University of Edinburgh School of Law.

Her research and teaching interests cut across European Human Rights, International Criminal Law, Comparative Law and Transitional Justice. With Raluca Grosescu, she edited Transitional Criminal Justice in Post-Dictatorial and Post-Conflict Societies (Intersentia, 2014) and contributed to the recent Routledge Introduction to Transitional Justice. Her writing on law and images has appeared in The International Journal for the Semiotics of Law and Oñati Socio-Legal Series.
