Douglas Puffert

Douglas Puffert joined the Gordon faculty in 2013 after teaching at the Universities of Munich, Berlin (Humboldt), and Warwick, and most recently at The King’s College (New York). Early in his career, he consulted for the World Bank on social security in less developed countries, and he worked six years for the U.S. International Trade Commission in researching the effects of technological change on the international competitive position of American industry. More broadly, he is an expert on the economics of technological change, both historical and contemporary.

Much of his research has been on the economic coordinating role of technical standards. Since student days he has pursued a strong interest in theological social ethics, particularly in relation to economics. Professor Puffert has been invited to speak at conferences in nine countries, and he has been invited to write articles for leading reference works.
