Mary Ellen O’Connell holds the Robert and Marion Short Chair in Law and is Research Professor of International Dispute Resolution at the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies at the University of Notre Dame. She is the author and editor of numerous books and articles on international law and its relationship to the use of lethal force in warfare. Her most recent publication is entitled The Art of Law in the International Community (Cambridge University Press, 2019).
