Jean Bethke Elshtain


Laura Spellman Rochefeller Professor of Social and Political Ethics, the University of Chicago, and the Thomas and Dorothy Leavy Chair in the Foundations of American Freedom at Georgetown University. A political philosopher whose task was to show the connections between our political and ethical convictions, Elshtain authored or co-authored over twenty books and over four hundred articles. Her books include: Just War against Terror: The Burden of American Power in a Violent World, Democracy on Trial, and Public Man, Private Woman: Women in Social and Political Thought.
