Matthias Revers is a lecturer in Media and Communications at the University of Leeds. Before coming to Leeds, he was a Postdoc at the Institute of Sociology at the University of Frankfurt. He is also a Faculty Fellow at the Center for Cultural Sociology at Yale University and a former Fulbright scholar. His current research encompasses several studies on political polarization in contemporary democracies.
His doctoral research was based on ethnography in the US and Germany and deals with journalistic culture, the adoption of technologies, social media-aided reporting and political public spheres. Most of his research is included in his book Contemporary Journalism in the US and Germany (Palgrave Macmillan, 2017). Other works have been published in Journal of Communication, Information, Communication & Society, Media, Culture & Society, Journalism: Theory, Practice & Criticism and The American Sociologist.
