The PhD thesis aims at exploring the structural and organizational conditions for the appearance of a functionally integrated individual in the transition from prokaryotic to eukaryotic cell. Guglielmo’s research interests include specific topics in philosophy of biology (e.g. biological individuality, major transitions in evolution, explanation in life sciences), the epistemology of biological practice, and the dissemination of scientific knowledge.
