Kari Steen-Johnsen is Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Social Research in Oslo, Norway. She is currently working on the project “Social media and the new public sphere: Consequences for democracy and citizenship", funded by the Norwegian Research Council. Her latest publications include: “Social media and mobilization to offline demonstrations: Transcending participatory divides?” (with Bernard Enjolras & Dag Wollebæk, New Media & Society, 2012); “After Utøya: How a High-Trust Society Reacts to Terror: Trust and Civic Engagement in the Aftermath of July 22” (with Dag Wollebæk, Bernard Enjolras & Guro Ødegård, Political Science & Politics 45, 2012).
