Dr. Enrique Prat studied economics and philosophy at the University of Madrid. In 1967 he moved to Vienna. Together with Prof. Johannes Bonelli, he founded IMABE, the Institute for Medical Anthropology and Bioethics, in 1987. In 1988 the Institute was taken over by the Austrian Bishops Conference with Dr Prat as head of the Institute.
In 1996 the President of the Austrian Republic honored him by the title of a Professor for his achievements in the areas of Health, Bioethics and Economic Ethics.
He is Co-Editor of the Quarterly Journal Imago Hominis. In 2008, Dr. Prat was a Guest Lecturer at the University of Linz, and since 2009 he is also a Guest Lecturer on Bioethics at the University of Salzburg.
