He is the former social and behavioral ciences dean, and dormer chairman of the sociology department and graduate program, as well as the author or editor of ten books, including Disturbing the Nest: Family Chanfe and Decline in Modern Societies, and most recently War Over the Family, Life Without Father: Compelling New Evidence that Fatherhood and Marriage are indispensable for the Good of Children and Society, and Promises to Keep: Decline and Renewal of Marriage in America.
