Alejandro Llano has been Professor of Philosophy since 1977, at the University of Navarra, where he was also rector from 1991-1996.  He studied at the Universities of Madrid, Valencia and Bonn, and obtained his Ph.D. at the University of Valencia with a dissertation on Kant’s metaphysics, working under the direction of Professor Gottfried Martin. 

Apart from his works about the philosophy of German idealism, he has studied ontology and the theory of knowledge from Aristotle to Thomas Aquinas. He has also analyzed problems of political philosophy and the theory of culture.

From 1967-1976, he was adjunct professor at the University of Valencia. In 1976 he became full professor of metaphysics at Madrid’s Autonomous University. In 1980 he was visiting professor at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.. And from 1981-1989 he was the dean of the faculty of philosophy and arts at the University of Navarra. He has been director and president of CERSIP (the Research Center on Social Responsibility of Private Initiative) and vice-president of the Permanent Seminar of Enterprise and Humanism.
